Check which revision you are studying

The 2026-07-28 revision made MCP stateless and removed the initialize handshake. If your study material describes initialize followed by notifications/initialized, it targets an earlier revision (2025-11-25 or before). You can browse any dated revision directly, e.g. modelcontextprotocol.io/specification/2025-11-25.

Note

The Linux Foundation certification page does not yet link a dedicated MCP course; AAIF has announced that a companion learning path of hands-on courses is planned. Until then, the official MCP documentation is the primary study source.
